5 Examples Of What Works For Asset Managers On Facebook

What works on Facebook? Here’s a quick look at five asset manager posts that are generating the most response lately, as measured by the number of people who have “liked” the update.

Likes are a good thing. Brands whose Facebook fans engage with them more regularly (via Likes, Shares, comments or check-ins) have a greater likelihood of being seen in fans' news feeds. And this can result in amplifying the reach of your updates to your users' networks.

Across the board, this industry is woefully behind the Like totals being racked up by others. At the tippity top is Coca-Cola, whose 58 million likes make it Facebook’s most liked brand (after Facebook, that is). The most liked asset manager is Vanguard, with 115,000 likes as of this writing.

Mutual Fund, ETF Sites Not #Winning With The Pinning

We’ve all heard about Pinterest’s unprecedented climb to the mainstream (to 23 million unique users by July of this year). And, it reportedly drives more traffic to Websites than ye old Yahoo.

Asset Managers Start To Say It With Pictures

“Hey, I read your ____.”

That would be the highest compliment that a family member could ever give me. After years of writing for various publications and companies, I’m still waiting to hear that a relative other than my sainted mother (she’d suffer through anything) read something that I wrote.

And yet the other day, I happened to mention something that I saw on an asset manager site to my recent college graduate niece. “Oh, I’d like to see that,” said Katy. And, the knife turned when she texted me later to remind me to send her the link.

Huh.

If you’re in the words business, as many asset management firms are, change is in the air. Signs are that the rest of the world, my family included, wants to see more than they want to read.

Some Takeaways From Week 1 Of Fidelity's YouTube Contest

Have you ever been part of a meeting when an idea is presented—maybe with some passion even—and the response is just a lot of shifting around in seats? Is it a good idea? Should we run with it? Or…? Nobody wants to say. With any luck, there’s an alpha in the room who is only too happy to step in and pronounce it.

Asset Manager Site Traffic Also On The Decline—What's Your Content Syndication Plan?

It's natural to want and expect the traffic on your mutual fund or exchange-traded fund (ETF) Web site to grow. But let's take a look at three data sets that suggest that you may need to reset what constitutes success for your Web strategy.

#1 Traffic is declining on the large well-trafficked brand sites.

A couple of blog posts have been documenting this lately. Go to a Digital Buzz blog post  to see declining traffic patterns since 2007 of ESPN.com, eBay.com and Dell.com among others.

In the asset management vertical, look at traffic to Morningstar.com.
